Youth Custodial Officers are responsible for the management of young people and their positive involvement in activities and programs at Banksia Hill Detention Centre in Canning Vale, Western Australia.
We are looking for people who want to make a positive difference to young people who have offended, to improve their education and work skills, maintain family links and prepare them for reintegration into the community. The role considerably influences services that ensure young people are provided opportunities to address their offending behaviour.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Do you have resilience, maturity, compassion and empathy? As part of a team you will work alongside young people in challenging situations. Your ability to diffuse and manage conflict is essential.
We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate:
- Great communication skills to build positive relationships with young people at Banksia Hill Detention Centre.
- A practical and common-sense approach to solving problems and being able to adapt to challenging situations.
- Excellent team working skills with colleagues and young people to achieve personal and professional goals.
- An awareness and understanding of Aboriginal people and their culture.
