About the Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will act as the Head of Workforce, leading both Workforce Engagement and Workforce Operations teams to deliver efficient, compliant and commercially aligned outcomes.

This role is hands-on and operational, requiring a leader who can move seamlessly between strategy and execution, particularly in high-pressure, fast-paced event environments.

  • Lead the Workforce function, providing direction, governance and accountability across all operations
  • Deliver and optimise workforce planning aligned to operational demand and a $15M+ labour budget
  • Establish operating rhythms, decision-making frameworks and scalable workforce models
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to drive labour efficiency and commercial performance
  • Oversee end-to-end high-volume recruitment, onboarding and workforce mobilisation
  • Ensure integrity of workforce systems (e.g. Deputy), payroll governance and data accuracy
  • Drive workforce capability, retention and risk mitigation strategies during peak periods
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders while embedding compliance, continuous improvement and DEI principles

About You

You are a commercially astute, operational workforce leader with experience managing large, complex and fast-paced environments.

You bring:

  • Proven experience leading workforce operations at scale (events, venues, hospitality, aviation, or similar)
  • Strong expertise in workforce planning, labour modelling and cost optimisation
  • Experience managing high-volume recruitment and mobilisation
  • Strong systems capability (workforce planning tools such as Deputy highly regarded)
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive outcomes across multiple teams
  • A hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate under pressure
  • Strong analytical and reporting capability

Benefits

  • Access to our national social and engagement programs.
  • Immediate access to 100+ retail and lifestyle discounts via mobile app.
  • Multiple salary packaging options to maximise take-home pay.
  • Comprehensive health and wellbeing benefits.
  • Recognition programs including service milestones, safety awards, team events, site benefits, and company-wide discounts.

Working with a large global company means you can be assured that we have an attractive benefits program! This includes comprehensive learning & development offerings, a variety of recognition programs and company discounts, an excellent salary benchmarking matrix and at this management level also includes an incentive bonus scheme! You can read all about these here: Why work at Compass

We are committed to providing a recruitment process that is fair, equitable and accessible for all. If you require adjustments or alternative methods of communication in the recruitment process, please reach out to us on either 1300TALENT, careers@compass-group.com.au
