Description

Northfleet is one of Western Australia’s largest diversified companies in the crane, transport, bus, and vehicle hire industry with depots throughout the Perth metro, Southwest, Pilbara, and regional Western Australia, supplying fleet solutions to our valued customers.

We require an experienced full-time Transport Coordinator to join our team. This position will be based at our Hazelmere branch or Osborne Park Head Office.

About You

As the Transport Coordinator you will work closely with our Operations Supervisor and use your well-developed knowledge of the transport industry, quantitative aptitude and sound planning and organisational skills to schedule daily fleet activity in the metropolitan area to ensure maximum asset utilisation across our fleet of trucks ranging from heavy rigid vehicle to multi-combination vehicles and specialised equipment, including house floats.

This position plays a critical role in the successful operation of our business, and we are looking for an exceptional communicator with high-level interpersonal skills that thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

The Role

  • Monitors movement of the fleet to ensure safe, cost effective, and reliable distribution of freight.
  • Oversees heavy haulage requirements and road transport over dimensional permit requirements
  • Route planning and assessing routes for permit applications.
  • Organising general freight consolidation
  • A strong commitment and active promotion of safety first
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing projects and provide a high level of professional service in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound understanding of driver fatigue and compliance requirements
  • Solid understanding of load restraint requirements
  • Thorough understanding of heavy haulage requirements and road transport over dimensional permit requirements
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Hands-on can-do attitude
  • An understanding of the Chain of Responsibility (CoR)
  • Demonstrated understanding of asset utilisation
  • Arranging local metro pickups and deliveries
  • Responsible for assigning the correct trailer to the load based on dimension and mass limits.
  • Assists the Operations Supervisor in overseeing a large team of drivers
  • Proactively interact with the team to promote our company values and understand our client requirements.

The Successful Candidate Will Possess

  • Experience in a similar role within the transport industry
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience
  • Experience with linehaul; including knowledge of the Northwest sites and towns.
  • Load experience or ability to assign the correct trailer to the load based on dimension and mass limits.
  • High level understanding of customer service fundamentals and appropriate skills in influencing internal and external clients.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working within Transport Management Systems
  • Familiarity with the Perth metropolitan area
