About Youth Off The Streets
Youth Off The Streets is a not‑for‑profit organisation supporting young people to build safer, healthier futures. For 30 years, our special assistance schools have provided flexible education for students who don’t thrive in mainstream settings.
Established in 2004, Key College – Chapel School is a coeducational specialist school supporting students in Years 9-12.
About the role:
We are looking for a secondary Generalist Teacher on a permanent full-time basis.
We know teaching young people with complex needs requires comprehensive support. You'll work alongside student support youth workers, psychologists and counsellors, and admin support who are part of your daily team. This foundation of safety and collaboration means you can focus on teaching while others provide wellbeing and crisis support. You're here to deliver education with flexibility that responds to each student's needs—and we've built the wraparound support that makes that possible.
What You Will Bring
- Ability to work with young people who have been marginalised in previous schools
- An understanding of the principles that underpin a child safe organisation including mandatory child protection procedures.
- Demonstrated capacity to respect and work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Additional experience in outdoor recreation, performing arts, creative arts, sport, fitness or other extra curricula activities are desirable qualities.
- An accredited four year undergraduate teaching degree.
- Current registration with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
- Science/Numeracy experience preferred or willingness to teach these subjects.
What We Offer
- Work with deep purpose—making a real difference for vulnerable young people
- A supportive, inclusive culture guided by The Sanctuary Model
- Ongoing training and development
- EAP access for you and your family
- Additional leave (purchased leave, gifted leave, self‑care leave)
- Regular supervision and support from experienced leaders
- Salary packaging to increase your take‑home pay
- Free onsite parking
- A team that continually innovates to improve outcomes for young people
- Fitness Passport
To Apply
Please ensure you enclose a copy of your resume with your contact details and cover letter addressing the essential criteria and the role you are applying for (2 pages maximum).
