Background information about the job or company

The Strategic Account Manager, Australia & New Zealand, is responsible for Abcam’s business in Australia & New Zealand. You will be expected to grow revenue and awareness of Abcam’s broad product range, focusing on direct customer engagement with specific Biopharma & Academic customers, with a secondary focus on KOL engagement.

This position reports to the Commercial General Manager, JAPAC, and is part of the JAPAC Marketing & Sales Team. This role will be fully remote, based in Melbourne, Australia.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Develop Deep Client Relationships: Establish trusted, long-term relationships with senior decision-makers in specific customers to ensure Abcam is their trusted partner
  • Strategic Planning: Develop Strategic Account strategies that include Revenue growth, project pipelines, and stakeholder maps to deliver Unambiguous Share Gain
  • Business Growth: Proactively identify, develop, and close New Business Opportunities
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Australia, New Zealand and Singapore Marketing & Sales team, Customer Support teams, Finance, Supply Chain & Digital to deliver solutions to customers' pain points
  • Pipeline Management & Reporting: Use of CRM to plan and manage sales activities, managing pipeline, qualifying leads and managing funnel with regular management reporting

Qualifications or requirements

MSc in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Microbiology fields

Experience needed

3-5 years of experience in science-based solution selling in the Life Science market in Pharma and Biotech in the territory. Experience with academic customers is also valued.

Strong knowledge of the Australian market dynamics, business regulations, and KOL networks to drive Revenue growth and competitive differentiation

Excellent in managing customer interface and relationship, both at the scientific end-user level, decision-making level and procurement levels

Have strong oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal, relationship building and presentation skills in English

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

Ability to travel 50% of the time across Australia & New Zealand, and occasionally within the JAPAC region

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Have a global perspective and enjoy collaboration with senior leaders, in particular the Global Leadership Team as well as the JAPAC Regional Marketing & Sales Teams
  • Possess a high degree of work ethic and professional transparency
