About the role:

The Staff Specialist role is an essential member of the Alcohol and Drug Service multidisciplinary team, providing clinical leadership and promoting patient safety and quality. The position provides specialist clinical care which may be in inpatient, outpatient and hospital liaison services as well as through the ADS Telehealth Service and the ADS telephony lines (the Drug and Alcohol Specialist Advisory Service).

The staff specialist will provide clinical leadership and expertise across a range of substance use disorders including assessment, pharmacotherapy, withdrawal and relapse prevention and referral and liaison with key treatment providers (including GPs). The staff specialist will work in a multidisciplinary team to provide care using a range of technologies including face-to-face, telephone and videoconferencing.

• Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Possess Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians or other relevant Australasian Specialist College including Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, Addiction Psychiatry certificate.
• If current Fellowship is with another relevant Specialist College, a commitment to gaining the Fellowship of the Chapter of Addiction Medicine while working with the St Vincents Alcohol and Drug Services.
