About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior External Loss Adjuster to manage a portfolio of complex and high-value claims across property, liability, and/or specialty lines. This role involves independent field-based investigations, stakeholder management, and delivering fair, timely, and technically sound claim outcomes.

You will operate as a trusted advisor to insurers, brokers, and clients, bringing a high level of technical expertise and professionalism to every claim.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end handling of complex and large-loss claims
• Conduct on-site investigations, inspections, and interviews
• Determine cause, extent of loss, and policy coverage
• Prepare detailed reports with recommendations on liability and quantum
• Liaise with insurers, brokers, solicitors, engineers, and other experts
• Negotiate claim settlements within delegated authority
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and policy requirements
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior adjusters
• Maintain strong client relationships and service standards
• Manage multiple claims while adhering to SLAs and KPIs

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Loss Adjuster handling complex claims
• Strong technical knowledge across property, liability, or specialist lines
• Excellent investigation, analytical, and report writing skills
• Confident negotiator with strong stakeholder management ability
• Ability to work autonomously in a field-based role
• High attention to detail and sound commercial judgement
• Experience managing high-value or catastrophic losses (desirable)

Qualifications

• Relevant insurance qualifications (e.g. ANZIIF, CIP or equivalent)
• Loss Adjusting accreditation or licensing (as required in your state)
• Full driver's licence
