About the Role
Our client is a federal government agency based in the Melbourne CBD. They are currently seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to come in and assist them on a 4 month temp contract opportunity with possible extensions.
Candidates for this role must have:
- Australian Citizenship (Federal Government requirement)
- CA/CPA Qualification, or Tertiary Qualifications in Business or Accounting
- Baseline Security clearance (Highly regarded)
- Exposure to account for all investment classes including equities, fixed income and alternative classes
- Experience with Investment financial statements and relevant accounting systems
Key responsibilities:
- Private Market Oversight: Manage complex investment allocations and ensure reporting compliance with legal agreements.
- Valuation & Reconciliation: Review investment valuations against Fund policies and reconcile capital calls, distributions, and custodian data.
- System & Data Integrity: Maintain the private markets reporting system and identify accounting issues in underlying portfolio investments.
- Fee Management: Calculate and reconcile management and performance fees according to legal documentation and invoices.
- Board & Statutory Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for the Board, subsidiary entities, and the Department of Finance.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Lead the preparation of yearly financial statements and reconcile general ledger accounts to supporting records.
- Stakeholder & Team Support: Collaborate with Investment and Operations teams while providing technical guidance to Investment Accountants.
About You
You will be an experienced Senior Fund Accountant with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Australian Citizenship (Federal government requirement)
- CA/CPA Qualification, or Tertiary Qualifications in Business or Accounting
- Baseline Security clearance (Highly regarded)
- Exposure to account for all investment classes including equities, fixed income and alternative classes
- Experience with Investment financial statements and relevant accounting systems
