What's on offer?
Fulton Hogan and our joint venture partners JF Hull Holdings Pty Ltd and McIlwain are delivering the central package of the Coomera Connector Stage 1 project which will deliver a 6-lane, 8-kilometre section of the project between Helensvale Road and Smith Street Motorway.
Reporting to the Project People & Culture Manager, we are seeking an experienced Senior Employee Relations Advisor to join our project based in Helensvale. In this role, you will provide expert, strategic advice on complex industrial and employee relations matters, supporting project leaders to resolve issues effectively while minimising risk and fostering a positive, compliant workplace culture.
We are open to either part-time or full-time employment for this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high level employee and industrial relations advice to project leaders and supervisors to achieve legally compliant and commercially sound outcomes.
- Lead and manage right of entry matters, including liaison with unions and ensuring all related procedures and reporting requirements are met.
- Review subcontractor pre-qualification and tender submissions to assess labour models, wage structures, site conditions and compliance with industrial obligations.
- Interpret and apply relevant employment legislation, modern awards, enterprise agreements, and organisational policies.
- Lead and conduct thorough, impartial investigations into employee complaints, disputes, and complex matters.
- Provide ER/IR risk advise to procurement and construction teams, including recommendations on subcontractor engagement and contractual controls.
- Conduct subcontractor compliance reviews and audits during project delivery, including payroll practices and roster patterns.
- Monitor the industrial relations climate on site and proactively identify, manage and mitigate emerging risks.
- Drive subcontractor training reporting and ensure evidence submitted meets project and policy requirements.
How will you connect to the role?
- Significant experience in industrial relations, employee relations and workplace relations in a senior advisory capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian employment law (Fair Work Act, anti-discrimination legislation, etc.).
- Proven success managing complex ER cases, investigations, and performance matters.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels, including external stakeholders such as unions.
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employment/Law, or a related field (highly regarded).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, mediation, and problem-solving skills.
- A pragmatic, commercially aware, and empathetic approach.
- Experience in construction, or infrastructure services would be highly regarded.
