Background

This role is within the Department of Children and Families – Regional Services Top End and Arnhem.

Responsibilities/Roles:

  • Deliver case work and manage complex cases.
  • Provide professional expertise in statutory child protection.
  • Exercise delegations under the Care and Protection of Children Act.
  • Train and support staff on program/practice issues.
  • Record accurate case data.
  • Participate in After‑Hours Service.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree OR equivalent diploma/certificates in Child Protection.
  • Extensive experience in assessments, interventions, and best practice.
  • Strong legislative knowledge and application skills.
  • Ability to train staff and prepare court reports.
  • High‑level communication and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and ability to work in diverse settings.
  • Willingness to travel (4WD/light plane).
  • Current NT driver’s licence.

Desirable:

  • 5 years relevant experience including child protection and care work.
