About the Role

Qantas Airways Limited is seeking a Quality Engineer – Conversational AI to join its Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide. This role is responsible for testing and validating chatbot solutions while shaping and evolving Qantas’ Conversational AI (CAI) quality engineering capability. Working closely with product, engineering, and AI teams, you will design automated chatbot tests, validate conversation flows, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve tools, frameworks, and testing approaches.

Key Responsibilities

• Test and validate chatbot solutions across multiple scenarios
• Design and execute automated chatbot tests using Cyara Botium
• Validate conversation flows, intents, entities, and dialogue management
• Test chatbot integrations with backend systems and APIs
• Embed chatbot testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Conduct non‑functional testing including performance, security, and accessibility
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to embed quality early in delivery lifecycle
• Analyse chatbot behaviour and translate insights into quality improvements
• Contribute to go/no‑go decisions for chatbot and CAI releases

Candidate Profile

• Strong experience in Quality Engineering or QA, with hands‑on chatbot testing expertise
• Proven experience using Cyara Botium for chatbot test automation
• Expertise in conversation flow testing, dialogue management, and intent validation
• Experience validating chatbot integrations with backend systems and APIs
• Familiarity with mobile apps as chatbot entry points
• Strong understanding of AI testing challenges including ambiguity and edge cases
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Continuous improvement mindset and passion for emerging AI technologies
