An exciting opportunity has presented itself for a Qualified Locomotive Driver to join our team at our Melbourne Drivers Depot in West Melbourne.
Responsibilities or duties
As a Mainline Locomotive Driver, you’ll play a key role in delivering freight safely, reliably, and on time.
Reporting to your Supervisor, you will:
- Prepare, manage and operate locomotives in accordance with Pacific National safety and operational procedures
- Perform and coordinate shunting movements independently or with Shift Supervisors
- Provision and prepare locomotives for operations, including inspections, control system tests and compliance documentation
- Process and monitor train performance information
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support our Delivered In‑Full, On‑Time (DIFOT) performance
- Promote and uphold PN’s safety goals and values
Qualifications or requirements
To be successful, you will be an experienced Locomotive Driver with a strong safety focus and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
You will also bring:
- A Certificate IV in Train Driving (please attach with your application)
- Demonstrated locomotive driving experience
- Strong communication skills and sound judgement in high‑risk environments
- Basic computer literacy
- A current C Class motor vehicle licence
- Ability and willingness to work a 24/7 rotating roster
- Ability to complete a Category 1 Rail Medical and Drug & Alcohol test
- A positive, proactive attitude and commitment to ongoing learning and development
