YOUR IMPACT

We’re seeking an experienced Diabetes Nurse Educator to lead the development and launch of a best-practice training program on insulin administration and diabetes care through Diabetes Care Plus, the clinical service of Diabetes Victoria. This training will support disability and aged care support workers, care coordinators, youth workers, residential staff, and education/activity program staff to build safe, confident capability in diabetes care.

You’ll work closely with the Clinical Services Coordinator to ensure the program is clinically aligned, legally and governance compliant, accessible to diverse learners, and embedded across relevant sectors. You will also contribute to Diabetes Victoria’s broader professional development offerings and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of a clinically aligned insulin administration training program, ensuring it is relevant, practical and sector-ready.
  • Ensure the training meets legal, clinical and governance requirements, and supports safe, competent practice.
  • Build flexible delivery pathways (online and in-person), ensuring content is accessible, culturally appropriate and evidence-based.
  • Work with the Clinical Services Coordinator to launch, promote and embed the program across disability and aged care sectors.
  • Measure and report on quality, participant outcomes and program impact, and use insights to continuously improve the training.
  • Contribute to Diabetes Care Plus professional development offerings (diabetes management and awareness sessions for support workers, early childhood/school staff, health professionals and university students).
  • Support clinical quality through contribution to relevant clinical policies and procedures.

ABOUT YOU

You are a confident educator and project lead who can translate clinical best practice into practical training for a wide range of learners. You bring strong stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative approach to building programs that are safe, scalable and fit-for-purpose.

Requirements

  • Current Police Check, Working with Children Check and Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • CPR/First Aid (desirable) and Certificate IV Training & Assessment (desirable).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in diabetes education or clinical care (type 1 experience highly regarded).
  • Experience applying evidence to program/training design and improvement.
  • Experience working with diverse communities (CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities).

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Salary Packaging: Access up to $15,900 tax-free each FBT year (+ $2,650 meals/entertainment).
  • Hybrid work model: Balanced working-from-home and office-based arrangements.
  • Inclusive, mission-driven culture: Work alongside passionate clinicians and health promotion leaders.
  • Professional growth: Access to thousands of online learning modules and clinical development opportunities.
  • Wellbeing benefits: Discounted gym membership for you and your family, mental health wellbeing day, EAP access, and more.
  • Impact: Be part of building and expanding an innovative, technology-focused diabetes service that improves lives across Victoria.
