Description
The Project Draftsperson plays a key supporting role within the design and construction team, responsible for the creation and delivery of high quality working drawings across diverse medium-density residential, early learning, and low-rise commercial projects from handover through to completion. The role focuses on maintaining exceptional drafting standards and building strong relationships with internal teams and external consultants to ensure accurate, compliant, and high quality project documentation.
Key areas of responsibility
- Create and modify preliminary and final working drawings, amendments, and construction details across single and double storey townhouse developments, early learning centres, and low rise retail projects;
- Maintain high drafting standards ensuring all documentation complies with design guidelines, building codes/regulations, contract inclusions, and internal company standards;
- Liaise with Project Managers, Development Managers, and Construction teams to provide additional construction details and resolve technical queries;
- Ensure project filing systems and naming conventions are maintained in accordance with business requirements;
- Complete all drafting tasks within business targets and project timelines while maintaining a “Quality First” approach.
Minimum requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a drafting or technical documentation role within residential or commercial construction;
- Tertiary qualification in Architectural Drafting, Building Design, or Construction (mandatory)
- Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and construction documentation standards;
- Exceptional attention to detail with demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings;
- Strong organisational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder liaison;
- Familiarity with townhouse developments, early learning centres, or low-rise commercial projects is advantageous.
