The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you’ll play a key role in coordinating the development of new products and ensuring designs are compliant, tested, and ready for production. You’ll be involved across the full lifecycle — design, documentation, testing, and manufacturing coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Design & Development
- Design and develop new products from concept to production
- Create 3D models and drawings using AutoCAD & Autodesk Inventor, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation
- Support prototyping, testing, and continuous product improvement
Engineering Documentation
- Prepare technical documentation, including - Product Specifications & Data Sheets, and Engineering Drawings & Product Manuals
- Maintain drawing registers and revision control systems
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure products meet key Australian Standards (AS/NZS 1576, AS 1657, AS/NZS 4994)
- Support certification and regulatory approval processes
Testing & Validation
- Coordinate product testing with external labs
- Review results with the Engineering Manager and support design improvements
Supplier & Manufacturing Coordination
- Work with overseas manufacturers and suppliers
- Provide technical drawings and resolve production queries
- Support prototype development and evaluation
Project Coordination
- Track development timelines and deliverables
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and compliance teams
About You:
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Structural Engineering, Product Design, or similar
- Experience in product development, engineering design, or technical coordination
- Strong skills in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor (3D modelling and assemblies)
- Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
- Exposure to Australian Standards and compliance frameworks
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation management skills
- Able to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
Bonus Points For:
- Experience in construction, access equipment, scaffolding, or safety equipment
- FEA simulation experience
- Experience working with overseas manufacturers
