Background

Primo Foods has a newly created opportunity for an Operations Director to lead our NSW operations. Reporting to the General Manager Operations, this senior leadership role has end to end accountability for safe, reliable and efficient production. The role will lead transformational change to lift operational performance while strengthening leadership capability, employee engagement, accountability and commercial outcomes across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and deliver the NSW operational vision aligned to broader business strategy, translating strategy into disciplined execution.
  • Lead operational excellence through Lean, continuous improvement and structured problem solving to drive sustainable performance gains.
  • Provide strong commercial and financial leadership, optimising labour, materials and overhead to achieve budgeted performance, productivity and cost outcomes.
  • Lead capital investment prioritisation, master planning and delivery of major site projects with a clear return on investment focus.
  • Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with safety, quality, environmental and regulatory requirements, including ISO, BRC and HACCP.
  • Lead and develop a large workforce (c. 800 employees), embedding a people centred, high performance culture focused on safety, accountability, capability development and succession depth.
  • Maintain rigorous standards for cost control, waste reduction, on time delivery and operational reliability through disciplined governance and performance management.

About You

  • 10+ years’ senior leadership experience within FMCG or complex industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with demonstrated experience managing large operational budgets and driving cost, productivity and margin outcomes.
  • Broad operational capability across manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain and people leadership.
  • Proven success building high performance operating systems, leading cultural change and developing strong leadership pipelines.
  • Sound judgement, strong analytical and problem solving capability, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in meat or protein manufacturing is highly regarded.
