About the role..

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Community Rehabilitation Service team. In this rewarding role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy services to adults in both community and centre-based settings. Working with clients recovering from a broad range of injuries and medical conditions including neurological, orthopaedic, and general deconditioning, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in helping people regain their independence and achieve their goals. Key responsibilities include:

  • To provide high quality, timely Occupational Therapy services to clients, maximising their function, performance of activities of daily living and participation in meaningful activities.
  • To comply with centre-wide, service and Occupational Therapy discipline specific policies/procedures and initiatives, meeting the Royal Rehab mission, vision and values.
  • To work as part of the multidisciplinary team within CRS and the Occupational Therapy department at Royal Rehab. This may involve working in or providing cover to other units from time to time upon request.

About you..

We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with:

Essential Criteria:

  • Current full registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Recent experience and clinical skills working in community and/or rehabilitation services with clients with neurological conditions, orthopaedic injuries and/or chronic disability.
  • Experience/expertise in falls prevention/management.
  • Experience conducting home assessments, prescription of home modifications and equipment.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Sound time management skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and complete tasks.
  • Sound interpersonal communication, negotiation, conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement evidenced based practice and outcome measurement and commitment to participation in supervision and professional development.
  • Computer literacy including demonstrated competence using Microsoft Word, email and Internet.
  • Current Class C unrestricted driver’s licence, good driving record and own car - Staff may be required to travel to visits in their own vehicle. Mileage/ petrol costs can be claimed.
  • Willingness to participate in QI activities.
  • Demonstrated sound clinical reasoning skills and ability to operate autonomously with access to direct clinical supervision.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with staff, student or Allied Health Assistant supervision.
  • Understanding of health and aged care related community services.
