Background
Not every commercial role needs to be loud or high ego to be successful. This is a business that has grown steadily by doing things properly, building trusted relationships, delivering on commitments, and focusing on long term outcomes over short term wins. Operating in the pharmaceutical and healthcare channel, they partner with major pharmacy groups across Australia. They represent a mix of established global brands and locally owned products, with a strong pipeline of growth and innovation. They're now looking for a National Account Manager. This could suit someone stepping up from a National Account Executive or Account Manager role ready for broader ownership. Based in South East Melbourne, 25K out of the city.
The role
This is an end to end account management role with real ownership across a national pharmacy portfolio. You'll work closely with major pharmacy banners and wholesalers, owning both commercial outcomes and execution in market. It's hands on but thoughtful, focused on building credible, insight led partnerships.
Key responsibilities include
- Developing and delivering promotional and trading plans
- Managing range reviews and new product launches
- Owning P and L, promotional spend and forecasting
- Partnering with a national broker field team to drive execution
- Using data and insights to support retailer conversations
- Maintaining strong, consistent customer engagement
You'll see the full picture, from strategy through to in store delivery, with genuine influence on channel growth.
What you'll bring
This role is suited to someone ready for their next step. You might be a National Account Executive or Account Manager stepping up, or an existing NAM seeking a more grounded environment.
You'll bring
- Experience in pharmacy, healthcare, FMCG or grocery
- Exposure to managing or supporting large customers or national accounts
- Understanding of promotional plans, trade spend and commercial drivers
- Strong analytical capability and comfort working with data and AI tools
- Confidence building relationships and influencing stakeholders
- A structured, organised approach
You'll also be
- Low ego and practical
- Reliable and consistent
- A clear communicator who builds trust
- Motivated to step into greater ownership
Pharmacy experience is valued, but strong grocery or adjacent backgrounds will be considered.
Why this role
This is a privately owned business of around 40 people, with no unnecessary layers or politics. You'll have direct access to decision makers and the ability to move quickly. The culture is supportive, grounded and people first. Leadership is hands on and fair, giving you autonomy while backing your development. The pharmacy channel is a significant and growing part of the business, offering real visibility and impact. This is a national role with occasional interstate travel and a flexible working approach.
