The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a multiple Logistics Planners in our Road and Rail Operations in our Supply Chain teams based in Port Kembla, NSW. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
In this permanent full time Road and Rail Logistics Planner position in our Business Engineering Team, involves shift relief coverage (covering annual leave and sick leave, working every forth weekend and improvement project activities. You will support the NSW Processing & Logistics team on a national level to ensure our products reach our customers reliably and on-time across the road network and rail network. You will execute transport plans using your knowledge of logistics processes to achieve the safe and efficient movement and delivery of all our products delivered by road & rail to domestic destinations. This role will give you the flexibility to support both road and rail teams on an as needs basis, providing you on the job variety experience and greater learning opportunity.
Responsibilities or duties
This role will see you providing consistently high levels of service as you work with a supportive team to ensure products reach our customers reliably and on-time. You will:
- be a main contact between carriers, dispatch points and planning teams, facilitating relationships that yield continuous improvement
- work with our operations and planning teams to monitor information and priorities, ensuring the correct scheduling of products for distribution on our road and rail networks
- execute transport plans at a national level and effectively monitor warehouse performance, identifying any opportunities for improvement
- work closely with our internal stakeholders including our transport, sales and warehouse teams to coordinate the most efficient and cost-effective delivery schedules for our customers
- use an analytical approach to deliver continuous improvement initiatives across the NSW Processing & Logistics function
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
As someone who is a high level of communication skills and ability to operate under pressure team player and enjoys working flexibly, you will bring:
- demonstrated experience in Logistics and Scheduling in a Heavy Industry Environment
- exposure to transport management and planning systems
- a proactive approach in building constructive and effective relationships
- a strong customer focus and the ability to deal with ambiguity and change
- a commitment to your own safety and wellbeing while caring for others
