Description

Part-time or Full-time permanent position (0.8 – 1 FTE) | Hybrid working model.

$51.00 p/h – $53.31 p/h + 12 % Super + Salary Packaging.

SCHADS Award Level 5, Pay point 1 -3, depending on experience.

We are seeking an innovative and collaborative Lead, Community Engagement in Research to strengthen the voice of people living with diabetes in research and drive meaningful partnerships between the community and research sectors.

YOUR IMPACT

As the Lead, Community Engagement in Research, you will play a pivotal role in connecting the diabetes community with research partners, ensuring that research reflects the real-world experiences, priorities, and needs of people living with diabetes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion and lead community co-design and engagement in research.
  • Build strong relationships with research institutions, health organisations, and community partners.
  • Develop and deliver engagement activities such as community consultations, surveys, and webinars.
  • Represent Diabetes Victoria in research collaborations, committees, and advisory groups.
  • Identify opportunities to influence research priorities and funding aligned with community needs.
  • Promote and showcase Diabetes Victoria’s leadership in community-engaged research through presentations and publications.

ABOUT YOU

You’re passionate about bridging the gap between community lived experience and research. You bring strong networks, research literacy, and a collaborative mindset, along with the confidence to lead engagement projects that translate insights into action. You will have:

  • Lived experience with diabetes and familiarity with the Australian diabetes community (preferred).
  • Tertiary qualification in public health, healthcare, project management, or a related field.
  • At least five years’ experience working in or alongside the research sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in community and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Understanding of access, equity, and inclusion principles.
  • Graduate Certificate in Consumer and Community Engagement (Desirable).

Essential:

  • Current Working with Children Check and Police Check.
