The Field Service Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, basic repairs, and troubleshooting of clinical and research instrumentation under established procedures and guidance. The role supports service performance through timely preventative maintenance, accurate documentation, and professional customer interaction, while developing technical capability over time.
Working as part of the ANZ Service Team, the Field Service Technician supports customer satisfaction and equipment availability by delivering consistent, reliable service and escalating complex technical issues as required.
This position reports to the TAC Supervisor and is part of the ANZ Service Team located in Brisbane. It is a remote role covering QLD, with support to other ANZ regions when required.
Responsibilities or duties
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Deliver field service support by performing preventative maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs on histopathology instrumentation in accordance with standard procedures and service manuals.
- Meet service KPIs including preventative maintenance completion, response timeliness, and accurate service documentation.
- Diagnose and resolve common technical issues, escalating complex hardware, software, or application problems to senior engineers as required.
- Maintain professional, courteous customer interactions to support satisfaction and trust during on-site service visits.
- Support team objectives by collaborating with peers and supervisors, participating in training, and continuously building technical capability.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Foundational technical experience or training in servicing, maintaining, or repairing laboratory, medical, or technical equipment, with the ability to follow procedures and instructions accurately.
- Developing troubleshooting skills, with an understanding of when to escalate issues to more senior technical resources.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, ensuring service activities and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
- Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise through formal training and on-the-job experience.
Experience needed
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical systems.
- Technical trade qualifications or vocational training aligned to equipment servicing or maintenance.
- Experience working in regulated environments such as healthcare, laboratories, or life sciences.
- Electrical license or ability to obtain one

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical / Environmental Requirements
- Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time within QLD and across ANZ where required. Some international travel may be required for training.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment up to 30 kg, and perform on-site service activities in laboratory, clinical, or industrial environments.
