The Role:
Our kitchen and food offer are an integral part of our service, and our Cook is the star of the show! Their role goes beyond meal preparation - they contribute to the centre's overall atmosphere by creating a warm, nurturing environment through food, sharing their knowledge on healthy eating for wellbeing, and greeting our Children, Families and Co-workers. The successful candidate will be passionate about providing high quality and nutritious meals for the children in the centre, with an in-depth knowledge of the food health and safety eating guidelines.
The role will be part-time and required to work a five-day week, Monday - Friday.
If you have an Early Childhood Qualification there are opportunities to extend your hours by being involved in a wider centre role.
The responsibilities:
- Prepare nutritionally balanced meals (Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon Tea) for children up to 5 years of age.
- Take into consideration individual dietary needs and allergies
- A thorough understanding of the food safety program
- Ensuring health and safety guidelines are adhered to by maintaining all documentation to the highest standard.
- Ordering food, shopping and coordinating food deliveries
- Contribute to creating menus
- Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen area each day
- Providing education about nutrition by engaging with all children and building positive relationship
- Supporting the development of healthy eating habits
- Have good time management and enjoy working independently and as a part of team.
Skills and experience
To be considered for this role, you will require:
- Minimum two year experience in similar role (desired).
- A Certificate in food handling and hygiene
- A current First Aid Certificate or a willingness to be trained
- Working with Children Check or a willingness to obtain one
- Flexibility and openness to new ideas.
- An Early Childhood Qualification would be an advantage
