Opportunity to gain specialist expertise in child development, learning, and behaviour. Based within the Child Development Program, you will develop your professional knowledge and skills in developmental-behavioural paediatrics and community child health through a clinical attachment at one of our four specialist ambulatory hubs across Brisbane Central, North, South, or the Queensland Children's Hospital.

About the Team

The Child Development Service teams provide a family-centred, specialist public health service for children who have complex developmental and behavioural concerns. The teams provide multidisciplinary clinical services and consultancy/advice to support a comprehensive understanding of the child's developmental profile and how this relates to their functioning and participation in everyday life.

About the Role

Responsibilities or duties

• Undertake regular assessment and performance review, actively participate in unit and facility based educational programs and meet mandatory training requirements.
• Contribute to the professional development, teaching and supervision of junior medical staff, medical students and other members of the multidisciplinary team and wider community. Undertake skills-based training to support this role.
• Provide clinical services and planning of clinical care (under supervision) for clients, including participation in interdisciplinary case management activities.
• Promote the protection and safety of children in all service delivery activities and ability to contribute to public health initiatives.
• Ensure appropriate and timely summary documentation through all phases of patient care, by completing patient progress notes, correspondence and reports including discharge planning and discharge/ functional outcome reports.
• Participate as part of a multidisciplinary team by adopting attitudes consistent with a team approach to the management of disability and exhibiting the social and ethical behaviour required for a senior staff member in Child Development Program, Child and Youth Community Health Service.
• Participation in the Brisbane Community Paediatric Clinical Training Program is a mandatory requirement.
• Undertake an evidence-based quality review project or research activity under the guidance of his/her supervisor for publication and/or peer-review presentation on this activity.
• Develop the skills of critical evaluation of published research and the ability to design research projects by participating in all professional development activities.
• Meet minimum requirements of the Fellowship by completing a Clinical Research Proposal or quality project.
