About the Opportunity
This role sits within the Homelessness and Family Services Division in the Youth Early Intervention portfolio. The Homelessness & Family Services Division consists of five domains:
- Youth Early Intervention
- Intensive Youth Support
- Supported Accommodation and Youth Refuges
- Adult and Family Homelessness
- Child and Family Services
The Finding Solutions position sits within the Youth Early Intervention Homelessness Portfolio, based out of MCM’s Braybrook office. Finding Solutions provides support to young people and their families who are at risk of entering the child protection system, in both the North and West regions of metropolitan Melbourne. Referrals to the Finding Solutions team come via DFFH Child Protection intake and investigations, along with The Orange Door. The Finding Solutions team provide case management support to help secondary school aged young people to remain or return to their parents when it’s safe to do so. Parents and children are given the opportunity to identify issues and behaviours that are negatively affecting the relationship and work to resolve them.
About you
We are looking for someone who can:
- Manage a caseload of clients using innovative and effective case work practice
- Provide a holistic response to young people and their families to address relationship conflicts and the underlying issues that may lead to conflict
- Provide outreach to young people and their families in their own settings
- Actively participate in care team meetings with internal and external services.

Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Welfare studies or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience working within a case management and trauma informed framework
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of theory and practice as it relates to family mediation and family support
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues that affect young people and their families experiencing conflict and at risk of report to Child Protection
- Experience and ability to develop cohesive and collaborative working relationships with allied services, networks and stakeholders.
- Well-developed communication, negotiation, interpersonal and conflict resolution skill
- High level of initiative and time management and the ability to work independently and part of a team
- An understanding of the requirements for ensuring child safety
- Strong administration skills and computer literacy
Screening Criteria:
- National Police check
- Working with Children check and NDIS Worker Screening check or ability to obtain
- Valid Victorian Driver's license
- Right to Work in Australia
