About the role

ASCOT GROUP is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our Aged Care, Health and Other team working across Greater Melbourne. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing various wooden structures, fixtures, and fittings. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects working around Greater Melbourne.

What you’ll be doing

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements
  • Measure, cut, and assemble wooden components to construct structures such as walls, floors, roofs, and staircases
  • Fixing and framing
  • Install and repair cabinets, shelves, doors, windows, and other wooden fixtures
  • Operate power tools and hand tools safely and effectively to complete tasks
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as electricians and plumbers, to ensure seamless project coordination
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to all safety protocols

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter, with a minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the industry
  • Domestic build background preferred
  • Strong technical skills in reading blueprints, measuring, cutting, and assembling wooden components
  • Proficiency in the use of power tools and hand tools, with a focus on safety
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address challenges on the job
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with other tradespeople
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and organised work environment
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
