Our Client is a Adelaide-based engineering company specialising in steel fabrication and structural erection within both the commercial and residential sectors. With over 30 years of experience, they have completed thousands of projects across Australia

Schedule: Monday – Friday + plenty of overtime (up to 15-20 hrs a week)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welding of heavy structural steel Trusses, beams, frames, columns, cleats and heavy plates
  • Read and interpret technical drawings
  • Reading drawings and specifications to determine the correct set-up process and welding processes.
  • Understanding the industry standards and requirements.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of welds
  • Working with hand tools such as hammers, chisels, measuring tools, weld gauge's
  • Working with power tools such as buffing wheels, drills, polishers, and grinders.
  • Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Welding with GMAW and FCAW welding, oxyacetylene cutting equipment and plasma cutting equipment.
  • Flame heating, bending.
  • Implementing the WHS procedures that are required to complete a job safely, including the use of the required (PPE)personal protective equipment for the job.

Qualifications:

  • Trade qualification as a Welder or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a workshop environment.
  • Proficiency in welding techniques (MIG).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to understand and interpret welding specifications independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in MIG welding and structural steel fabrication.
  • Commitment to safe work practices.

Desired Competencies:

  • Certificate III in Engineering (Welding)
