Architect / Draftsperson – Residential Design

Full Time | Hills District | $90,000 – $120,000 + Super (depending on experience)

A well-established residential construction company specialising in granny flats and secondary dwellings is seeking an Architect or Draftsperson to join their team.

Operating in Sydney for over 18 years, this business has built a strong reputation for delivering practical, well-designed secondary dwellings within the Sydney Metro area.

The Role

This position will involve designing and documenting granny flats from concept through to construction drawings, ensuring designs meet compliance requirements and are practical for construction.

You will collaborate closely with the project management team and participate in client design meetings to customise layouts and finalise plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing concept designs for granny flats
• Customising and modifying existing design templates
• Producing detailed construction drawings
• Preparing documentation including electrical layouts, bathroon elevations and basic kitchen layouts
• Ensuring designs meet building compliance and development requirements
• Participating in client meetings alongside project managers to refine designs
• Managing multiple projects simultaneously

About You

The ideal individual will have:

• Experience in residential design, ideally granny flats or small/secondary dwellings
• Strong understanding of Complying Development Certificates (CDC)
• Knowledge of stormwater, sewer and Sydney Water compliance
• Experience producing construction documentation
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
• Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with clients
• Experience using ArchiCAD or Revit
