Permanent Full-Time Career Opportunity & Casual Positions for an Aerodrome Reporting Officer (ARO) – 38 hours per week (Permanent) or 'as needs basis' (Casual)

Responsibilities or duties

  • Conduct daily safety inspections of runways, taxiways, and movement areas.
  • Maintain compliance with CASA standards and ensure aerodrome certification requirements are met.
  • Operate light plant and equipment to maintain grounds and airside areas.
  • Record and report on safety inspections, wildlife hazards, and maintenance activities.
  • Undertake wildlife control in line with the Bird and Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.
  • Support aerodrome maintenance and construction projects.
  • Assist with aerodrome lighting maintenance following CASA standards.
  • Provide security services in compliance with the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004.
  • Liaise with stakeholders including CASA, aircraft operators, and emergency services.
  • Respond to emergency and after-hours callouts as required.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • A willingness to obtain an Aerodrome Reporting Officer Certificate and Aviation Security Identification Card.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with aviation stakeholders.
  • Sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety practices.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Physical capability to operate mowers and equipment for extended periods.
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence, White Card, and First Aid Certificate.

Desirable

  • Relevant aerodrome operations experience and understanding of CASA regulations.
  • Certificate III in Aviation (Ground Operations).
  • Chemical Application Certificate (AQF 3).
  • Firearms Licence.
