The Opportunity:

As an Account Director (Communications) in WILDCARD, you will take ownership over a diverse communications portfolio, driving earned media impact, setting direction and strengthening our presence across the Australian sports landscape.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, this role is responsible for managing key clients end-to-end, delivering major campaign moments and building influential media and stakeholder relationships locally.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Lead day-to-day PR and comms across key clients
  • Run media launches, press events, and story placements
  • Manage entertainment media relationships
  • Guide and develop team members
  • Oversee budgets, internal ops, and team forecasting
  • Identify new opportunities in Adelaide’s sports and culture scene

You will play a critical role in shaping major projects including flagship sporting events, while building strong internal partnerships across the broader TGI Sport network.

Qualifications or requirements

About You:

You’re an experienced PR & communications professional who understands how the Australian sports and media ecosystem operates and how to influence it.

You’re a storyteller with instinct, hustle and headline energy. You know what makes a story land, and how to build buzz where sport and culture meet.

You’re confident leading client campaigns end to end – strategic in approach, decisive in delivery, and always calm under pressure.

Experience needed

  • Extensive experience in PR communications – sports experience a plus
  • A PR mindset with a creative edge and love for newsworthy ideas
  • Strong relationships across entertainment media – sports experience a plus
  • Sharp writing, pitching and campaign execution skills
  • A collaborative, proactive style – you lead with clarity and own outcomes
  • Curiosity, cultural awareness and a passion for brave, meaningful work
  • A genuine love for sport
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Sports Management or related field
