Role Overview

Provide high‑level support and case management to remote students transitioning to boarding schools in the Northern Territory and interstate. The role ensures ongoing advocacy and assistance for students and families to successfully complete secondary education pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver wrap‑around case management for boarding students.
  • Provide logistical support for student travel, including meeting flights and buses.
  • Use case management systems to monitor and report outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships with boarding/residential staff.
  • Liaise with schools and stakeholders across states and territories.
  • Assist with Abstudy and boarding enrolment applications.
  • Support orientation and induction for new boarding students.
  • Travel regularly to and from very remote communities.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Knowledge of youth service providers in remote NT Indigenous communities.
  • Experience in youth work, counselling, social science, and case management.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to support students isolated from families using technology.
  • Cross‑cultural competence, particularly with remote NT communities.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 40 weeks per year) via light aircraft or 4WD.

Desirable

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Youth Work, Project Management).

Additional Requirements

  • Current NT Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card).
  • Current driver’s licence (or ability to obtain).
