Background

 

Responsibilities

Investigate and enforce compliance with the Fisheries Act 1988.

Lead patrols, inspections, and investigations.

Provide advice to stakeholders and the public.

Compile briefs of evidence for court proceedings.

Provide administrative support to the FCU.

Mentor Fisheries Officers and Inspectors.

Assist in developing best practice procedures and policy.

Participate in biosecurity response as required.

Qualifications

Supervisory experience in compliance/enforcement environments.

Ability to interpret/apply legislation.

Investigation experience and evidence collection knowledge.

Strong communication, negotiation, and mediation skills.

Ability to conduct fieldwork in remote locations.

Coxswain certificate (or ability to acquire).

Desirable: Knowledge of NT Fisheries legislation, Certificate IV in Investigations.
