The Team:
Hospital in The Home’s sole purpose is to provide exceptional hospital level health care and ongoing support to the residents of Northern Tasmania to negate the need for hospitalisation in our mainstream facility and enable patients to remain in their own home and community under the watchful/vigilant eye of a dedicated health team which includes Medical Staff Specialists, Senior Medical Registrars, Nurse Unit Manager, Associate Nurse Unit Managers, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and Allied Health professionals (incorporating Senior Social Workers, Senior Physiotherapists and Senior Occupational Therapists) .
The Role:
The Registrar/Senior Registrar is responsible for the day to day management of private and public patients of relevant service and provision as rostered and determined by the relevant work unit.
Will be responsible for working under the direction and supervision of the Medical Specialist to provide medical treatment and care to patients admitted to HiTH, day to day management of private and public patients and participate in patient reviews when clinically appropriate.
Adhere to professional protocols, policies, clinical pathways and standards.
Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a comprehensive medical care plan to patients admitted to HiTH.
Demonstrate sound judgement and competence in accordance with skills and knowledge when undertaking tasks relating to patient care.
Provide after-hours cover as directed.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, full time, day worker (with on call) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 3 August 2026 until 1 February 2027.
Registrars only: You will receive 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.
Salary:
Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $134,930 - $189,005 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging
Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $3,183 per annum, pro rata
- Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
- Professional development and accelerated pathways.
- A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
- Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $14.50 per week per person, or $28.05 for a family.
