About the role

We are currently looking for a Recovery Officer to join our Credit team based in our Perth, WA Support Office. Working closely with the broader Credit team, you’ll manage recovery matters end to end, applying strong judgement and problem‑solving skills to achieve the best commercial outcomes for the business.

This role suits someone who enjoys working through complexity, is comfortable having robust conversations, and can confidently navigate situations where matters may progress to legal action. It’s a hands‑on role where a million ways to make an impact exist every day — from influencing outcomes early through to resolving more complex, higher‑risk cases.

What’s involved

  • Conducting debt recovery activities, including the assessment and write‑off of bad debts
  • Applying sound commercial judgement by assessing available equity, risk exposure and the likely outcome of legal proceedings, while actively managing associated legal costs
  • Managing and controlling legal recovery processes by working closely with external solicitors and collection agencies
  • Negotiating, setting up and monitoring payment arrangements with customers
  • Maintaining accurate records through the reconciliation of payments and invoices
  • Reviewing customers for continued trade, including analysing payment behaviour, credit bureau reports and other relevant financial information
  • Supporting risk‑related activities such as credit limit reviews and identifying potential fraud indicators

Who we’re looking for

An ideal candidate will bring a strong problem‑solving mindset and the ability to work through layered, complex matters without losing attention to detail. You’re comfortable joining the dots, weighing up risk and outcomes, and making sound decisions.

You’re a confident communicator who can engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including customers, internal partners and external legal providers. You know how to adapt your communication style to suit the situation, hold your ground when needed, and explain your thinking clearly and professionally.

What you’ll need

  • Experience in credit control, collections or debt recovery (advantageous but not required)
  • A solid background in customer service
  • Working knowledge of credit reporting and recovery processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence in negotiation and influencing outcomes
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work to agreed timeframes
  • Experience managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders

You’ll be part of a workplace where you’ll feel like you belong.

We love the diversity across our teams, brought together in an inclusive culture guided by our values. We welcome applications from individuals of all ages, cultural backgrounds, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities. We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to apply and join us in shaping a workplace that celebrates First Nations voices, perspectives, and contributions. Please note, you must be age 15 or over to apply for a role at Bunnings.

We’re all about fairness at Bunnings, and our team’s here to support you every step of the way. If you need any adjustments, just let us know - we’re here to help. If you’ve got the experience, skills, and drive to grow - but don’t quite nail every part of the job description - we still want to hear from you. For support, contact us at jobs@bunnings.com.au.
