The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you’ll play a key role in coordinating the development of new products and ensuring designs are compliant, tested, and ready for production. You’ll be involved across the full lifecycle — design, documentation, testing, and manufacturing coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Design & Development

  • Design and develop new products from concept to production
  • Create 3D models and drawings using AutoCAD & Autodesk Inventor, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation
  • Support prototyping, testing, and continuous product improvement

Engineering Documentation

  • Prepare technical documentation, including - Product Specifications & Data Sheets, and Engineering Drawings & Product Manuals
  • Maintain drawing registers and revision control systems

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure products meet key Australian Standards (AS/NZS 1576, AS 1657, AS/NZS 4994)
  • Support certification and regulatory approval processes

Testing & Validation

  • Coordinate product testing with external labs
  • Review results with the Engineering Manager and support design improvements

Supplier & Manufacturing Coordination

  • Work with overseas manufacturers and suppliers
  • Provide technical drawings and resolve production queries
  • Support prototype development and evaluation

Project Coordination

  • Track development timelines and deliverables
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and compliance teams

About You:

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Structural Engineering, Product Design, or similar
  • Experience in product development, engineering design, or technical coordination
  • Strong skills in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor (3D modelling and assemblies)
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
  • Exposure to Australian Standards and compliance frameworks
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation management skills
  • Able to manage multiple projects and stakeholders

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience in construction, access equipment, scaffolding, or safety equipment
  • FEA simulation experience
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturers
