Are you an Early Career Occupational Therapist looking for meaningful work, strong clinical support and a clear pathway to grow your skills?

We are currently seeking an Early Career Occupational Therapist to join our Hunter Region team in an itinerant/community-based role. In this position, you will support autistic children, adolescents and adults through community-based therapy services focused on building independence, participation and quality of life.

At Aspect Therapy, you’ll be supported to build confidence in your practice while working collaboratively with autistic people and their families to develop practical, everyday skills that make a genuine difference.

With a structured early careers program, dedicated supervision and strong mentoring, you’ll have everything you need to develop into a confident, capable clinician—while making a meaningful impact from day one.

Job Description

Salary & Benefits

$81,000 – $120,000 per year FTE (inclusive of super)

Plus additional benefits including:

  • Salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay

  • Reimbursement of daily work-related kilometres travelled and tolls

Early Careers Program & Support

At Aspect, we know that starting your career is a big step—so we’ve built a program to support you every step of the way.

You’ll benefit from:

  • A comprehensive induction program while you build your caseload
  • A structured early careers training pathway (first 12–18 months)
  • Regular clinical supervision and mentoring
  • Training in Positive Behaviour Support and autism-specific approaches
  • Ongoing monthly professional development sessions
  • A gradual, supported transition to managing your own caseload

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting 3–4 participants per day in community settings
  • Working collaboratively with participants and their families/support networks
  • Building practical, functional skills that support everyday life
  • Developing strengths-based, person-centred support strategies
  • Working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team

Unlike private practice, you won’t need to source your own clients — we’ll support you to build a sustainable caseload.

What You’ll Bring

Tertiary qualification in:

  • Occupational Therapy
  • 1–3 years’ experience (or new graduates encouraged to apply)
  • Interest in working with autistic people and neurodivergence
  • Willingness to work in community-based settings
  • AHPRA registration
  • Supporting 3–4 participants per day in community settings
  • Working collaboratively with participants and their families/support networks
  • Building practical, functional skills that support everyday life
  • Developing strengths-based, person-centred support strategies
  • Working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
  • Interest in working with autistic people and neurodivergence
