Job Description
As a Job Mentor with a First Nations Specialist Provider under Workforce Australia, you will provide culturally safe, holistic, and tailored support to First Nations clients, helping them overcome barriers to employment and achieve meaningful, long-term participation in the workforce.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Demonstrate strong cultural competency in working with First Nations communities
- Participate in connection with community, respect relationships and apply this respect to each participant across all diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability to apply mentoring, case management, and employment services
- Strong understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in relation to employment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and advocacy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of local community services, employers, and support networks
- High level of organisational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or case management systems
- Understanding of typical barriers faced by unemployed participants, particularly parents returning to the workforce
- Understanding of Bamara contractual guidelines
- Understanding of Mutual Obligation and the Target Compliance Framework
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong administration skills
- Ability to meet and exceed outcome-focused KPIs
- Experience in community support, employment services, human resources/recruitment, education and/or social services (desirable)
- Experience working with disadvantaged cohorts (desirable)
- Experience working with Indigenous communities (desirable)
- Experience working with participants with mental health and other barriers (desirable)
- Must pass and have a current Police Check
- Must pass and have a current Working with Children Check and/or Vulnerable Persons Check
- Driver's License required
