Our remote services are in some of Australia’s most hard to reach, underserviced locations. Located in the small coastal community of Wadeye, the Kardu Darrikardu Numida Hostel is a 24/7 operating service.

Responsibilities or duties

The Hostel Coordinator plays a vital role in the daily coordination and smooth running of the Wadeye Hostel program. Responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team, including Youth Workers, House Parents, cook, maintenance person, Mentor, and Wellbeing Worker. The Hostel Coordinator ensures the provision of culturally safe, trauma-informed care and a supportive, structured environment for school-aged girls and trainees.

Reporting to the Wadeye Programs Manager, the Hostel Coordinator oversees program delivery, staff supervision, and operational logistics. This includes maintaining consistent routines, managing staff coverage, mentoring team members, supporting student wellbeing and engagement, and ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures. The role is central to creating a safe, nurturing space where young people can thrive socially, emotionally, and educationally.

Qualifications or requirements

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with young people, families, and stakeholders.

Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with a calm, solutions-focused approach.

Competent in using Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) and maintaining accurate digital records.

Exceptional time management, organisational, and administrative capabilities.

Valid manual driver’s licence.

Current First Aid Certificate (including CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis desirable).

Ability to build strong, respectful relationships with adolescents and demonstrate sound professional judgement, particularly in crisis situations.

Experience needed

Vocational or tertiary qualifications in community services, training and/or Aboriginality
