Your Opportunity
As a Case Manager within the Safe Steps service in South Hedland, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children, young people and families who are experiencing, or are at risk of, family and domestic violence. Working directly within the community, this role provides meaningful, face‑to‑face engagement with clients across office settings and safe outreach locations, ensuring support is accessible, responsive and culturally appropriate.
Operating under general supervision and in alignment with evidence‑informed and trauma‑informed practice, you will manage a caseload of moderate to low‑risk participants, providing non‑clinical mental health and psychosocial support through targeted case management. The role offers scope to exercise initiative and professional judgement while being supported by a Level 4 Case Manager for higher‑risk matters. You will work collaboratively with internal teams across the Pilbara and Midwest regions, as well as external stakeholders, to deliver holistic, wrap‑around support that enhances safety, wellbeing and long‑term outcomes.
This position also offers strong professional development opportunities, including supported learning pathways within community services, mentoring, and exposure to inter‑regional practice. Your Key Responsibilities
Requirements for Success
A Cert IV or willingness to obtain in Social Work, Social Welfare, Youth Work, Community Services or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience; disability case management experience will be considered.
A minimum of one year’s experience in family and domestic violence, youth work or community‑based case management, with demonstrated ability to support people with complex needs.
Strong understanding of trauma‑informed care, child and adolescent development, and child and youth safe practices, with the ability to apply these in practice.
Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal cultures, communities and protocols, with the ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal young people and families; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
Well‑developed communication, interpersonal and engagement skills, with the ability to adapt communication to suit diverse audiences, including CALD communities.
Strong organisational, time‑management and administrative skills, including report writing, data collection and use of client management systems.
Proven ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating resilience, initiative, sound judgement and confidence in navigating ambiguity and complexity.
First Aid & CPR Certificate is required.
Full driver licence with no restrictions.

- Provide trauma‑informed, culturally safe, non‑clinical psychosocial support to children and young people aged 12–25 years who are experiencing or have been exposed to family and domestic violence.
- Deliver end‑to‑end case management, including intake, assessment of suitability, development of holistic and strength‑based case plans, and regular review of progress against goals.
- Maintain an active caseload of approximately 15–20 clients, providing one‑to‑one support for up to 12 months or longer where required.
- Develop, implement and regularly review individualised case management and safety plans in collaboration with clients and their families.
- Conduct home visits, office‑based appointments and outreach in community‑based safe spaces, ensuring client safety and wellbeing at all times.
- Provide advocacy and practical assistance, including support with forms and applications (e.g. housing, Centrelink, Medicare), and referral to appropriate internal and external services.
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential client records, including case notes, data entry, reports, statistics, safety plans and case management documentation, in line with organisational and legislative requirements.
