Department of Children and Families – Regional Services, Greater Darwin Region

Responsibilities or duties

Provide cultural support services to children, young people, and families.

Assist in child safety, family support, case management, carer recruitment/training.

Offer cultural advice and act as a broker between staff and Aboriginal clients.

Advocate and maintain communication between programs, agencies, and communities.

Contribute to service development of out‑of‑home care services.

Record accurate data in client/case management systems.

Participate in after‑hours statutory welfare responses.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

AQF Certificate IV in Community Services (or ability to obtain).

Experience living within Aboriginal cultural frameworks and representing perspectives.

Knowledge of kinship systems and welfare service delivery.

Experience working with children, young people, and families in statutory settings.

Ability to plan and deliver culturally appropriate services.

Willingness to travel by 4WD/light plane and stay overnight in remote communities.

Computer skills or willingness to learn.

Current NT Driver’s Licence.

Must hold Working with Children Clearance.
