Gidgee Healing is seeking a dedicated Vocational Specialist to join our headspace Mount Isa team. In this rewarding role, you’ll work closely with young people aged 12–25, supporting them to overcome barriers and connect with education, training, and employment opportunities through the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.

The Role
As our Vocational Specialist, you will:
- Provide one‑on‑one vocational support to young people experiencing mental health challenges
- Work closely with clinicians to ensure integrated, person‑centred care
- Develop career profiles and employment plans tailored to each young person’s goals
- Support job searching, resume development, interview preparation and job applications
- Build strong relationships with local employers to create meaningful job opportunities
- Provide ongoing in‑work support to help young people succeed and thrive
- Maintain a caseload of approx. 20 participants while delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based support
This is a hands-on, relationship‑driven role where every day you’ll see the impact of your work.
What You’ll Bring
- A genuine passion for supporting young people
- Understanding of the IPS model or willingness to learn
- Experience working with young people or people with mental health challenges
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong relationship‑building and networking skills
- Computer literacy and solid administrative ability
Desirable:
- Experience in employment, vocational or social inclusion services
- Knowledge of local labour market trends or education pathways
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience
Requirements
- Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence
- Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
- National Police Check
