Barrington Personnel Security is growing – and we’re looking for three motivated, detail-oriented Vetting Support Officers to join our high-performing team.

We proudly have been a provider for the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) for the past fifteen years, supporting national security through high-quality personnel security vetting services. This isn’t just a job it’s a structured career pathway to becoming a Registered Vetting Analyst within 2 -3 years.

The Role

As a Vetting Support Officer, you’ll play a critical role in supporting our Vetting and Quality Assurance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor case progression and liaise with Vetting Analysts to ensure timeliness and quality
  • Support the Quality Assurance Team in maintaining compliance standards
  • Produce performance and KPI reports for senior management
  • Gain exposure to business operations including allocations and invoicing
  • Undertake and complete the Certificate IV in Government Personnel Security
  • Upon qualification, train to conduct NV-level security vetting assessments
  • Progress to undertaking Quality Assurance reviews and mentoring Analysts as competency develops

Your Career Pathway in Government Security

Year 1–2:

  • Introduction to case management
  • Introduction to vetting analysis
  • Introduction to policy and its application to vetting
  • Exposure to writing in a regulatory environment (report writing)
  • Vetting Support & operational exposure
  • Complete Certificate IV Government Security (Personnel Vetting)

Year 2–3:

  • Conduct NV-level security vetting assessments
  • Develop case analysis capability
  • Registered Vetting Analyst pathway
  • Undertake Quality Assurance on completed assessments
  • Provide technical guidance to team members

About You

We’re looking for people who are:

  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong communicators (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable working with confidential and sensitive information
  • Analytical thinkers who enjoy reviewing information critically
  • Motivated to build a long-term career in the security vetting space

Previous experience in administration, compliance, investigations, legal, government, or defence environments will be highly regarded but mindset and capability matter most.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be Australian Citizens and able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance.
