The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager Waste & Sustainability, you will provide high-quality technical support and administration for Council's waste management projects and operations. This role is vital for coordinating educational campaigns and ensuring technical data supports evidence-based decision-making.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Analysing technical information related to waste activities and ensuring clear communication to all stakeholders.

Coordinatng system administration for waste software (e.g., Mandalay and Waste App), including data processing and reporting.

Managing special projects, including the review and development of waste management policies and minimisation practices.

Ensuring legislative compliance by assisting in the review of operational activities, contracts, and licence conditions.

Developing community education programmes and campaigns to meet Council's waste minimisation objectives.

Handling financial administration, such as preparing sundry debtor accounts, tipping accounts, and monthly purchase orders.

Organising meetings and workshops, including coordinating agendas and following up on action plans.

Representing Council for the Northern Inland Regional Waste Group (NIRW).

About You

You are a communicative professional with a strong working knowledge of financial reporting and the ability to interpret complex legislation. You have the judgement to prepare high-quality documentation and can work effectively both independently and as a team member.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

Certificate IV in Business Administration or Project Management (or a willingness to undertake relevant study).

Practical experience in Waste Services, contract administration, or business administration.

Strong computer skills for the operation of databases, spreadsheets, and presentation software.

Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.

Ability to interpret legislation and solve problems related to waste management.

Required Tickets, Licences and/or Qualifications:

General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).

Class C Driver’s Licence (NSW).

Desirable Criteria

Experience in waste management or sustainability within a Local Government context.

Required Clearances and Checks:

Pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing.

National Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check (NSW).

Evidence of up-to-date immunisations (Hepatitis A, B, and Tetanus).
