DXC provides a critical software product to the utilities industry in Australia. This role is an opportunity to be involved in the development and maintenance of that product working closely with major clients. The role is responsible for software design and development, unit-testing and preparation of documentation together with maintenance on and support of the product.

Key Responsibilities

Primary responsibility is to code and develop new product features and updates under direction including:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-quality software systems
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
  • Optimise SQL queries and database performance for large-scale systems
  • Produce and execute test plans.
  • Develop to ensure the performance, security, and reliability of applications
  • Contribute to ongoing product support
  • Maintain and enhance relevant technical expertise and skills

Also expected to participate in overall product development

  • Understand and translate customer business requirements into functional requirements
  • Participate in design activities
  • Participation in quality system reviews, documentation and refinement of quality processes
  • Proactively propose product improvements

Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL programming
  • Experience in developing, maintaining, and optimizing Bash or Perl scripts to automate tasks and improve overall system efficiency
  • At least 5 years’ experience in programming with at least 2 years in Oracle databases
  • Experience with Microsoft Office productivity tools, e.g.; Word, Excel and Visio

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Oracle development/database certification
  • Experience with Oracle forms and reports
  • Knowledge of utility industries (Electricity, Gas, Water), meter data management and billing
  • Formal qualifications in information technology
  • Client/vendor liaison experience
