Job Description
Provide specialist Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Critical Risk Management advice and guidance, to support consistent safety management and drive continuous improvement
Partner with safety professionals and airline Business Units to strengthen critical risk management, critical risk controls and enable a proactive safety culture

Working within Group Safety Programs, Strategy and Governance this is a specialist WHS role responsible for advice and guidance on the Group’s critical risk management framework, critical control methodology and Group Critical Risk Management Standard.
The role supports all Group businesses and encompasses both Domestic and Offshore locations.
The role is responsible for facilitating and supporting the Group to implement its critical risk management strategy. Key areas of focus are design and development of Group tools and supporting guidance to enable airlines and Business Units to implement the critical control methodology and related improvement initiatives, reviewing and monitoring critical control application Group-wide and developing business cases, based on incident and assurance activities, to improve critical control effectiveness.
Immediate priorities identified for FY27 are widespread implementation of critical control verification by the Group, development and communication of guidance for suppliers and third parties on critical risk management and evolution of Group analysis and insights in relation to critical risk safety incidents.
You’ll have –
- 5 years of relevant safety or critical risk management experience
- Tertiary qualifications in safety, engineering or related discipline
- Comprehensive knowledge of WHS/OHS and related legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian and International Standards
- Operational experience within a high-risk industry as a safety or critical risk professional
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement improvement strategies within a large, complex matrix organisation, working across multiple diverse business areas
- Ability to influence positive outcomes at all stakeholder levels, foster networking between Business Units and Departments
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, initiate and lead workplace change
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with an ability to coach and impart knowledge
- Proven analytical, investigative, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Preferred: skills and experience with a unionised workforce
