I’m excited to be working with a major state government body who’re is seeking a technically strong and highly motivated Senior SCADA & Control Systems Engineer to lead the delivery, governance, and enhancement of critical industrial control system infrastructure. This role combines both operational SCADA engineering and project-focused SCADA design and commissioning responsibilities.
Responsibilities or duties
- Provide subject matter expertise across the organisation’s SCADA environment, including management of maintenance providers and system integrators.
- Ensure governance, performance, and data quality of SCADA and historian systems.
- Lead and support investigations into SCADA‑related incidents, faults, performance issues, and system‑wide problems.
- Develop and review functional requirements, engineering designs, specifications, drawings, and commissioning documentation for minor and major works.
- Prepare engineering packages with high levels of clarity, accuracy, and responsiveness.
- Participate in and lead design reviews, acceptance testing (FAT, SAT), verification and validation, and change management.
- Lead and coordinate SCADA engineering activities for major, minor, or migration projects.
- Support the rollout of a new SCADA system and engage with broader delivery teams to ensure alignment and integration.
- Provide technical direction for PLC, HMI, alarm management, industrial networks, and Windows/server administration environments.
- Perform system enhancements and modifications to support project and operational needs.
Qualifications or requirements
- Tertiary degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (Electrical) within Victoria.
- Ability to deliver complex technical work with minimal supervision.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Strong written skills for high‑quality technical documentation, standards, procedures, and reports.
Experience needed
- Significant experience with Industrial Control Systems engineering.
- Strong PLC competencies, including Siemens, Rockwell ControlLogix/MicroLogix, or GE Fanuc.
- Experience in instrumentation systems design, development, or maintenance.
- Proven experience commissioning complex industrial control systems.
- Experience in project planning, engineering design delivery, and business case preparation.

- 6/12 months contract
- Hybrid working
- This role also requires for all applications who’re successful to have a Police Check and a valid Driving Licence.
