Description

“Otic” means smart people doing smart work, together.

We are a wholly owned Australian company committed to helping our clients design and build intelligent software solutions that unlock real value across their organisations.

Otic Group was formed to give talented technology professionals the opportunity to work with some of Australia’s most prominent enterprises, alongside exceptional peers, in an exciting, dynamic, and growing consulting environment.

We are currently looking for a Senior Power BI & Reporting Visualisation Engineer — a hands-on leader who is passionate about creating high-quality, enterprise-grade reporting interfaces for large and complex organisations.

This role is ideal for someone who not only builds exceptional Power BI solutions, but also sets standards, leads design decisions, and elevates reporting maturity across programs of work.

The Role

As a Senior Reporting Engineer, you will play a critical leadership role in delivering best-in-class reporting and analytics solutions to our clients. You will be trusted to own reporting outcomes end-to-end — from requirements and semantic modelling through to visual design, performance optimisation, and stakeholder adoption.

You’ll work closely with senior client stakeholders, architects, data engineers, and analysts to ensure reporting solutions are scalable, intuitive, performant, and aligned to enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of enterprise-grade Power BI reporting solutions across large, complex data environments
  • Translate business and executive requirements into clear, intuitive, and high-impact visual experiences
  • Define and enforce best practices for Power BI modelling, DAX, performance optimisation, and visual design
  • Design robust semantic models that balance flexibility, performance, and governance
  • Partner with data engineering teams to ensure clean, reliable, and well-modelled data sources
  • Drive stakeholder engagement, workshops, and design walkthroughs with senior business users
  • Mentor and guide mid-level and junior engineers, uplifting team capability and reporting standards
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and version control for Power BI assets

Experience & Skills

  • Deep expertise in the Azure data stack, including modern cloud data platforms
  • Advanced, hands-on experience delivering Power BI solutions in large enterprise environments
  • Strong experience with DAX, Power Query, data modelling, and performance tuning
  • Experience working with DBT and Databricks in analytics engineering environments
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD, data warehousing, and modern analytics architectures
  • Strong SQL skills with a deep understanding of data structures and modelling concepts
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments, including TDD and CI/CD practices
  • Consulting or client-facing experience is highly desirable, with the ability to lead conversations and influence outcomes
  • Retail experience highly regarded

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid working model
  • Availability to work from client’s Victorian offices when required

Eligibility

All applicants must hold Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency (PR), or other permanent work rights.

Otic is not able to sponsor or support visas at this stage.
