Role Overview

Provide lived‑experience peer support to consumers transitioning from long‑term mental health inpatient care to community living. This role is central to the Pathways to Community Living Initiative (PCLI), helping individuals build confidence, independence, and social connections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer peer support based on lived experience of mental health recovery.
  • Assist consumers in developing self‑management and coping strategies.
  • Facilitate access to community resources, housing, and social supports.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Promote recovery‑oriented practice across services.
  • Contribute to service improvement through consumer feedback.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with consumers, carers, and staff.
  • Understanding of recovery‑oriented practice.
  • Commitment to supporting consumer empowerment.
  • Compliance with NSW Health immunisation requirements.
