Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) is a local government authority covering an area over 282,000 Sq. kilometres. CDRC builds sustainable communities through traditional local government services such as waste management, road repair and upgrades, and community services (Community Safety, Children’s Services; Youth, Sport and Recreation, Aged Care) in 12 communities to the North of Alice Springs: Lajamanu, Ti Tree, Wilora, Nturiya, Pmara Jutunta, Willowra, Laramba, Nyirripi, Yuelamu, Atitjere, Engawala and Yuendumu. The Central Desert area is considered remote and disadvantaged and over 80% of the population are Aboriginal people.

The Role

The Senior Coordinator, Work Health & Safety (WHS) is responsible for contributing to the provision of a healthy and safe workplace and culture by coordinating the development, implementation, monitoring and review of Council’s WHS frameworks in accordance with Central Desert Regional Council strategic and regional plans, policies, procedures and relevant legislation. The role is also responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of programs to support policy implementation, education, and proactively encouraging organisational leaders to eliminate or mitigate WHS risks across sthe organisation.

  • Ability to supervise, oversee and administer program services.
  • Ability to liaise with community, contractors, staff, management and stakeholders on issues relevant to program operations and service plans.
  • Relevant qualifications in Work Health & Safety.
