Your opportunity

Make a real and lasting difference in people’s lives with Mission Australia’s Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative (HASI) service.

As a Recovery Case Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting people living with mental health challenges to build independence, strengthen their wellbeing, and connect meaningfully with their community. Working within a recovery-oriented framework, you will deliver person-centered, flexible support that empowers individuals to achieve their goals while collaborating with a dedicated, values-driven team committed to helping Australians in need thrive.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Deliver evidence-informed, person-centred case management aligned with recovery-oriented practice
  • Develop and review individualised, strengths-based support plans with participants
  • Provide outreach and practical day-to-day support, including assistance with daily living activities
  • Support participants to build independence, transition to other services, and achieve long-term goals
  • Conduct client assessments, intake processes, and maintain accurate case documentation
  • Collaborate with internal teams, community organisations, and external stakeholders to enhance outcomes
  • Contribute to program delivery, team initiatives, and continuous service improvement
  • Complete administrative tasks, reporting, and data entry in line with quality and compliance standards

Requirements for success

  • Relevant qualification (degree, Associate Diploma, or equivalent experience in community services or a related field)
  • Demonstrated experience in mental health and/or community services
  • Sound understanding of recovery-oriented practice, mental health systems, and psychosocial rehabilitation
  • Strong person-centred approach with a genuine belief in people’s capacity for recovery and growth
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with participants and stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, including experience with case management systems and reporting
  • High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office and client management systems)
  • Ability to manage complexity, work with ambiguity, and maintain professional boundaries
  • Current driver’s licence and Working with Children Check (WWCC)

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
