Here at ABP Langport, located in Southwest Somerset (TA10 9HG), we are currently recruiting for the ideal candidate to join our Boning Hall Team as a Quality Controller.
Transport required due to our rural location. Please check your travel options before applying.
Role definition:
- Ensure product complies with customer specifications and quality standards.
- Maintaining hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect and identify carcasses for contamination and removal of contamination
- Check product against customer specification
- Check labelling and packaging of products is correct against customer specification
- Check crate composition, contents and product numbers against customer specification
- Contribute to maintain a clean, tidy, safe and food safe working environment
- Ensure all final products are checked for all quality and hygiene attributes
- Reject any product which does not meet specifications, reporting quality defects and issues to line supervisor or production manager and retaining product for further inspection
- Cover for other QCs as required
- Carry out CCP checks on products that are identified as a risk
Knowledge and Experience:
Essential
The ideal candidate will have experience within a food production environment; however, the role can be learnt by an individual with an attention to detail and the confidence to challenge. They must be able to understand and carry out instruction and practices, a self-starter who can be relied on to use their initiative, and someone who can maintain good communication skills and awareness throughout their shift. They must be reliable and have personal integrity to maintain quality standards in the face of possible production challenges.
No formal qualifications are required for this role
The role requires a moderate to high degree of physical activity
Schedule:
Day Shift Schedule
Working Days: 4 days per week
Shift Hours: 06:00 – 18:00
Rolling Rest Day: One weekday off, rotating Monday through Friday
Example Rotation:
- Week 1: Monday – Rest Day
- Week 2: Tuesday – Rest Day
- Week 3: Wednesday – Rest Day
- Week 4: Thursday – Rest Day
- Week 5: Friday – Rest Day

Boning Hall Production Manager
